I build things. This is the road so far.

Charlles Paiva

S1How it started

I'm Charlles. I started studying computers at nine and never left the road.

Shortcutstraight to the finish
  1. At 9 years old, 2005.

    Computer basics

The first course. Keyboard, mouse, folders and the first programs. That's where the curiosity got its bump start.

  2. From 11 to 13 years old, 2007 · 2009.

    Inside and out

Two courses at once. In the first, building and fixing computers and the first networks: opening the case, swapping parts, getting one machine to talk to another. In the second, web design, and that's where the screen won me over. Photoshop open, a Flash animation frame by frame, HTML typed by hand, back when a button that glowed under the mouse was something to be proud of.

  3. At 16 years old, 2012 · 2014.

    Technical school: EtecSylvio de MattosCarvalhoMatão

Technical school, at 16. First computing for the web, then computing with a focus on desktop applications. The hobby got a name, a method and exams.

  4. At 19 years old, 2015 · 2019.

    Technology college: FatecTaquaritinga

Technology college: Systems Analysis and Development. Halfway through, in 2016, came the first job, and the road got two lanes: study and work.

  5. At 24 years old, 2020.

    Published article

“Microfrontend: um estudo sobre o conceito e aplicação no frontend”

The study on microfrontends became an article, published in 2020 in Interface Tecnológica, Fatec Taquaritinga's journal.

S2Where I've been

From the countryside to the highway. Every exit a company, and from each one I took something on to the next.

  1. 2016, 10 months

    Fullstack Developer · Matão

My first job was on a farm over a century old: the old English estate in Matão, which in the 1920s became the largest coffee operation in the world and today grows oranges and coffee. In the technology team I kept the internal systems, the databases and the reports running, and built the company's intranet from scratch. That's where I learned that real software has someone waiting on the other side.

Then, delivery. Expresso helped restaurants and snack bars keep up with the rush, with menus, orders and management, at a pace where every order arriving right on a Friday night was a small win.

    Fullstack Developer · Gavião Peixoto

In Gavião Peixoto, beside one of the longest runways in the world, I joined the test team of the E2, Embraer's new generation of commercial jets, the month the E190-E2 was certified. I kept internal systems running and built new tools for the team to follow its routine of tests and test flights. Few things are as thrilling as helping, from the ground, to follow a plane that's still proving it can fly.

Another consultancy, another world: finance. I joined the BTG Pactual team to build the Portal Admin, the tool support used to serve BTG+ clients. A short time, a lot of responsibility.

Frontend Developer · Rio de Janeiro

Almost five years. Stone was born in Rio in 2012 with the idea of being close to entrepreneurs, and that closeness has a name: the agents, out on the street every day from hubs across the country. I helped build Marco Polo, their tool, to capture leads, serve clients, look after their portfolio, plan the day and track the working day. And the best part: knowing that what I made was in the pocket of people out on the street.

  1. Game · 2024

    Sequensser

It started while scrolling the feed. I saw a trend of people trying to guess a hidden sequence of colours: the only move is swapping two, and the only clue is how many are in the right place.

I couldn't get it out of my head, and it became Sequensser: cards with physics, difficulty modes and online 1v1 matches.

S4The pit

Pit stop.

Before the finish, a few things about me you won't find on a CV.

My birthday is on Christmas Day.

25 December

And no: contrary to what everyone imagines, I've hardly ever had two presents from the same person.

The Volkswagen Gol G1

There's been a Volkswagen Gol G1, the “Gol quadrado” as we call it in Brazil, in my family since I was 4. Today I'm 30, and it's with me: 26 years on the road together.

I like it so much I have two, both wine red: a 1995 and a 1994 turbo, with programmable injection and tuning that nearly tripled its original power. And the fun of driving it, too.

And it's the one racing this track: the little car you've been driving down the page.
